Alison was married to Mike Leigh, the great film director, which probably accounts for her roles in a number of his movies, most notably Topsy-Turvy, Secrets and Lies, and Life is Sweet. Don�t get me wrong, she is a very capable actor, and I highly recommend viewing Topsy-Turvy (even though her role was a minor one) to see what a natural actor she is.
Hey, Sylwia, I�ve figured out how to enter curly quote marks on this board. You know I hate using � " � and � ' � if I can avoid it.

Edit: After checking the page on another computer/browser, it looks like the HTML codes are getting scrambled after the post, even if the preview looks good. This happens with some, not all, browsers. Bummer.
