My thinking exactly! Always better to celebrate twice than once.
Well, we have ours today to memorise the establishment of the Commission of National Education in Poland in 1773 - considered the first ministry of education in world's history (secular schools for all kids no matter their social class or gender).
There is also one international on Oct. 4th, so you can actually celebrate 3 times a year.
What do you do on teachers' day? Here there's an official celebration with kids performing, and then all the teachers get zillion of flowers (which is quite an art itself to know which teacher should be granted a bigger bouquet and which a smaller one, lol. Almost all teachers here are women.), and then everyone goes home.
So both kids and teachers love it.
