Affection/love - here I'm lost. Does it mean
that affection has a deeper meaning than
love? That is quite interesting actually,
because I don't like this word. A similar
one in Polish "afektacja" means
this kind of feeling Caroline had for
Georgiana. But I guess I can switch.

Sylwia, I don't know whether affection is deeper than love but affection is not the equivalent to the Polish "afektacja". I think the latter is the equivalent of "affectation". The latter means, according to the Merriam-Webster'sOnline Dictionary at the www.britannica.com site, "the act of taking on or displaying an attitude or mode of behavior not natural to oneself or not genuinely felt ", that is, exactly the Caroline Bingley type behavior. The same word exists in Hungarian, too, while an equivalent to "affection" meaning genuine feelings is not present.
