I spent about 3 weeks there and didn’t find it annoying exactly. I did get annoyed with myself, however, because I couldn’t always understand what was being said, so I couldn’t always participate as much as I would have liked in some conversations. (Could that have been a part of why it sounded unpleasant after a bit? Since you didn't know what was being said? ) It’s a good thing that made-up sign language is mostly universal or I’d have been in trouble whenever Sylwia wasn’t around.
What really drove me crazy though, is that I couldn’t pronounce it! Boy did I make an effort. Sylwia can attest to the fact that I never was able to say anything correctly, except for two words, although I didn’t let it stop me from continuing to try, lol! Dobrze (meaning good or well) was the one word that plagued me the most, and therefore was the one I refused to give up on! One would think it was simple enough (dobb – jeh), yet I could not for the life of me say it right according to Sylwia’s ears. Yet she let me keep using it and even encouraged my efforts. Which was very kind of her considering that it must have hurt her ears very much!
