OH! I’m so happy you posted today Kate! It spurred Sylwia into sharing her view of the English language and I get to lmao. Now everyone gets to see what I deal with!
Of course, refraining from adding words to the sentences would not diminish the number of chapters, lol! Yet imagine the discussions we have over some of my additions – added only because they are necessary and make the story better, lol! I suffer for my efforts, really I do!
If I let her have some of the sentences or the structure she wants, or the words that she often makes up or wants to use for that matter, you’d find it a somewhat different story than it is. There wouldn’t be any uses of the small words so necessary to communication in English. Words like a, an, and, so, for, the, or, and are, simply wouldn’t be allowed, and if we used he or she in one sentence, its use would be banned for many more paragraphs after that, if it was allowed again in the same chapter at all, lol! The story would be short, with much hidden meaning that would require the reader to have a background in all things Polish in order to understand what was being conveyed, lol! Four page chapters with fifteen pages of notes and references that I would feel obligated to add to help the reader find their way – which would only make it longer!
I deserve a medal! I really do!
(Thank you so much for storing that smile for me, Tony! It really is my favorite!)
